Continue Down the Road

Saturday, June 8, 2019 - West Memphis, AR

This morning we were back on the road and headed for West Memphis, AR.  We arrived at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi Rive RV Park about mid-afternoon.

While I was checking in the lady asked how many nights we were staying and I told her only one.  Then she informed me that they will probably have to close again tomorrow.  According to the Army Corps of Engineers website, the Mississippi was due to start rising again tomorrow.  And this park is right on the Mighty Mississippi.  Most of the sites in the park are still closed due to high water, but the area we were in was "high" ground compared to most of the sites.
After we were all set up we walked over to the river and let Gracie do a little swimming.  Her very favorite thing to do.

I also took a couple of pictures of a couple of barges going down the Mississippi.  Going up river was slow going, but going down I think they had the engines in reverse.

For dinner we ate at Mi Pueblo, a very nice little Mexican restaurant.
It was another wonderful day!

Dinner w/ Robinson's

Friday, June 7, 2019 - Texarkana, AR

This afternoon, our good friends James and Deborah drove up from Dumas to spend the afternoon with us.  Their original plan was to continue on up to Oklahoma City, but with all of the flooding up there they decided not to go any further.  We drove into town and had dinner at AppleBee's.

We had a nice dinner and a wonderful visit.  After dinner we drove back to the RV park where we said our "Good-byes".

It was another wonderful day!

SmartWeigh

Thursday, June 6, 2019 - Texarkana, AR

This morning, Mike took the truck over to be weighed.  Then we hitched up and took the rig over to be weighed.  No surprises on the tractor, it had no issues with any of its weights.  However, we were surprised by the trailer results.  We figured we were a little overweight on the trailer, but we were surprised by how much we were over.
We have (3) 7,000 lbs axles with a GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) of 20,000 lbs for the entire trailer.  While we are well under the weight ratings for the pin, axles, and tires; we are over on the GVWR for the trailer by 1350 lbs.  :(  Our rig needs to go on a diet!!  A job we will start working on tomorrow.

After we were done getting weighed we headed out.  We arrived at Sunrise RV Park in Texarkana, AR.  As can be seen in the picture, it is pretty much an open parking lot.
It was another wonderful day!

Travel to Livingston

Tuesday, June 4, 2019 - Livingston, TX

Even though we went to bed late we were still up early to get on the road for Livingston.  It was a little over a 4 hour drive.  Mike has been wanting to get our truck and trailer SmartWeighed for some time now and we have an appointment for Thursday morning.  About mid-afternoon we pulled into the Escapee RV Park in Livingston, TX.
It is a very nice park.

It was another wonderful day!

Dinner Out

Monday, June 3, 2019 - Von Ormy, TX

This morning Mike was busy trying to find a place to repair the AC in the truck.  He decided that if he did not find someone here he would look near Livingston, but soon Budget Auto, a place he had left a message at, called him back and said to bring it in right then.  So off he went.  They checked it out and determined it needed a condensing coil.  To save time, we went to pick up the condensing coil and miscellaneous parts.  When we returned the guy, promised to have it finished before the end of the day and we both headed back for the RV park.

For dinner,we headed to Pappasito's to meet Ed and Diane.  Traffic was not bad and we arrived about 15 minutes early.  Ed was already there.  Diane arrived shortly after we got our table and were seated.  We figure out that it has been about 13 years since we last saw each other at their son Aaron's wedding.  We had a nice dinner and a wonderful visit.  Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture!  :(  Around 10pm we finally said our "Good-byes" and headed out to pick up the truck.  When we arrived back at Budget Auto, Ryan was still working on the truck, but he said he was almost done. I did take a picture earlier in the day of the truck being worked on.
Eventually he finished up and we headed back to the RV park.  It was a long day, but we finally got to bed around 11:30pm.  Budget Auto was an outstanding place: reasonably priced, friendly, and very service oriented!!  A real gem of a business.

It was another wonderful day!

Leave Mission, TX

Sunday, June 2, 2019 - Von Ormy, TX

Today we finally left Bentsen Palm RV Village Resort.  It is a very nice park, but a little to close to the border for us.  About the time we got to the border check point the AC went out in the truck.  With it being 102 deg out, Mike was miserable for the rest of the drive.  We arrived at Hidden Valley RV Park in Von Ormy around 3pm.  It is a nice park, no amenities.
Tomorrow Mike will be looking for someone to fix the AC in the truck.

It was another wonderful day!  (For me!!)  :)

May 2019

Friday, May 3, 2019 - Mission, TX

Mike got home early from work today, which does not happen very often at all!  It was a long week and we wanted to celebrate the fact it was over!  :)  Time for a little adult beverage.
After we finished our drinks we took Gracie for walk.  On the way we saw a couple of "singing ducks", at least that is what someone told us that they are.  But when I looked it up on the internet I could not find any type of bird called a singing duck.  :)  They are neat any way.

When we were returning from walking Gracie for her last walk of the night she darted after something.  We did not know what it was until we got a whiff of the odor.   It was a skunk!  And I was sure Gracie had been skunked again!  Mike ran in to get the Skunk Out we purchased after last time this happened.  When he brought it out I started rubbing her with a rag and smelling it to determine exactly where I needed to clean her.  Much to our surprise it missed her.  But I do think it hit the truck.  :(

It was another wonderful day!

Saturday, May 4, 2019 - Mission, TX

When the grandkids were here last month we meant to show them this tree.  It is not a very nice tree for climbing!

Not sure what kind of tree it is, but it is the first time I have ever seen anything like it.

Also, while we were walking I noticed a new flower blooming.
It was another wonderful day!

Saturday, May 11, 2019 - Mission, TX

Mike had ordered some LED lights for the cactus I bought in Tubac, so today we put them on.  It turned out really nice, if I do say so myself.  :)
It was another wonderful day!

Monday, May 13, 2019 - Mission, TX

This afternoon Gracie was looking out the storm door and started barking.  When I looked out to see what she was fussing I saw this turtle.  :)
The landscaping company has been very busy cutting down all of the bushes in the park.  While Mike and I were walking Gracie this evening we took a picture of  what it looks like.

It was another wonderful day!

Tuesday, May 14, 2019 - Mission, TX

Today we had a very strong rain storm come through.

Once the storm moved on things were flooded!  This is right outside the trailer.
All of the inner circles were now ponds.  Gracie thought it was wonderful, she now had several swimming holes to play in.  :)

It did not take long for the water to recede.   Within a few hours, it was almost back to normal.  The club house had a couple of inches of water in it also.  It took the park personnel two days to get it all cleaned out and the outside walls washed.

It was another wonderful day!

Thursday, May 16, 2019 - Mission, TX

Today I received my Mother's Day gift from Tony and Miranda.  :)
It is a perfect t-shirt for me.  :)

It was another wonderful day!

Friday, May 17, 2019 - Mission, TX

This evening Mike and I went out to dinner to Longhorn Steak House.  It was very good.  Mike took a picture of me wearing my new shirt.  :)
It was another wonderful day!

Saturday, May 18, 2019 - Mission, TX

We are finally getting ready to leave Mission, TX.  We are hoping to pull out no later than Wednesday, June 5.  While Mike was getting things organized in the truck I saw a walking stick and just had to take a picture!  :)
Later we started working on installing a third air bag in the trailer hitch.  The third airbag will increase the pin capacity from 5000 lbs to 7500 lbs.  Our pin weight has been running right at 5000 lbs so we needed to upgrade to the higher capacity.
It was relatively easy to install.

It was another wonderful day!

Tuesday, May 21, 2019 - Mission, TX

This evening when we took Gracie for a walk she found a tarantula!
It was another wonderful day!

Saturday, May 25, 2019 - Mission, TX

While we were outside we noticed a praying mantis on my cactus.
It was another wonderful day!

Friday, May 31, 2019 - Mission, TX

Today was Mike's last working day in Reynosa, Mexico.  YEAH!!!  We can now get back on the road.  We are now planning on leaving on Sunday, June 2nd!

Some of the people Mike worked with made him a huge sack of harina tortillas and sent them home with him.  Yum!!  Delicioso!!  Thanks to Francisco, Alex, Julio, Gaby, Alondra, and. Kristell.  We kept about 20 out and froze the rest.

This evening we went out to dinner with our neighbors, Ellen and Arthur.  It is also Arthur's birthday!  "Happy Birthday Arthur!"  We went to Texas Roadhouse and visited for a couple of hours before calling it a night.  :)  Unfortunately, I forgot to take any pictures.  :(

Ellen and Arthur are building a place in Retama Village.  They are hoping to be moved in by July.

It was another wonderful day!
