Dad's Party

Saturday, November 30, 2019 - Indianapolis, IN

Dad's 90th birthday party was at Sue's house.  We had a very good turn out.

Then we had a couple kids pictures taken.  :)

Then Dad opened all of his gifts, while I was showing some old pictures that I had scanned.

Afterwards we played a game Patsy brought called Happy Salmon.  It got very noisy, but it was a lot of fun!
It was another wonderful day!

Friday, November 29, 2019 - Indianapolis, IN

We were up early this morning in order to drive to Indianapolis.  The birthday party is tomorrow night and we had a 12 hour drive to get to Indianapolis.  We finally arrived at Sue's house around 8:30 PM.

It was another wonderful day!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thursday, November 28, 2019 - Greenwood, LA

Happy Thanksgiving!

When we went grocery shopping for our Thanksgiving meal Mike joked about about buying a cajun turkey since we were in Louisiana.  We didn't realize it, but we accidentally ended up buying one.  Ooops.  :)
It wasn't bad, actually it was pretty good.  But you could sure smell the cajun seasoning.

This afternoon we did go to downtown Shreveport to check out the Riverwalk.  There wasn't any free parking available and I didn't want to pay $10 to park just so we could take a walk, so we just headed back home.

It was another wonderful day!

RV!

Wednesday, November 27, 2019 - Greenwood, LA

Each time we take Gracie for a walk, I say I am going to bring my phone to take a picture of this trailer. Well, today I finally remembered.  I know for sure it is not a place I would want to live in.  I am afraid if you shake it too hard it would fall!  Or your dinner would slide off the table or you might fall out of bed.
You can't tell very well in the picture, but it is way up on blocks of wood.

It was another wonderful day!

Sunday, November 24, 2019 - Greenwood, LA

Today we headed out to Greenwood, LA, which is just outside Shreveport.  The Southern Living RV park is right off of I-20 and it is a little noisy.
The rig will be here for a couple of weeks.  Next weekend we will  be headed to Indianapolis to celebrate my dad's 90th birthday.  :)

Crystal Chapel

Saturday, November 23, 2019 - Hot Springs,  AR

Before we headed into to town to do some more sightseeing we let Gracie play in the water.  As you can see the water is almost all the way back down.

She just loves to chase rocks in the water.  Actually she just loves the water!  :)

Our original plan for this morning was to go see the Crystal Chapel that we were told about.  When we got there, the gates were closed.  After checking the website, I found out that as of November 23rd, it is now only open in the evening for the Holiday Lights.  So we bought a couple of tickets to see the Holiday Lights later this evening.

There is a historic baseball cell phone tour in Hot Springs.  Hot Springs used to be where spring training was held.  On our way to West Mountain, we came across these 2 signs for the cell phone tour.

When we got to the parking lot on the west mountain, I took a couple of pictures of the view.
The Hot Springs Mountain Tower, which is on the East Mountain, is in the distance of this picture.
We did go for a hike.
For lunch, we went to the Ohio Club, which is the oldest bar in Arkansas.

They have quite a history, which was very interesting to read.
After lunch, we headed down to the Gangster Museum.  It cost $15 each to enter.  It is a guided tour and, in my opinion, they don't allow enough time to really read and review the information they have.  You are ushered from room to room and they have a short video in each room that you watch before moving to the next room.  It was very interesting all the same.  At the end they have a photo op, which we took advantage of.
It was finally time to go to the Holiday Lights.  The lights were very beautiful!  We thought we would be able to walk through very quickly, but it took us much longer then we expected.  :)  It was an outstanding display of lights and music and very much worth the admission fee.

Finally we headed for the chapel.  Before we got there we saw this structure and walked over to check it out.  We never did find out what the structure was, but think it is intended to be a carillon.  When we were there, there were no bells or sound system connected to it.
The Chapel is very beautiful!  The pictures just don't do it justice.
There was Christmas program going on inside and unfortunately, we got there close to the end and only got to listen to a couple pieces of Christmas music.  But it was a very good program all the same.

It was another wonderful day!

Flooding

Friday, November 22, 2019 - Hot Springs, AR

It has been raining for the last couple of days and now the river next to us is rising!
The rain did stop and by afternoon the river was going back down.

This evening we let Gracie play in the water and when Mike threw a rock for her to chase, it hit her in the head.  Not that she really noticed, but it did leave a sore on her head that was bleeding.

It was another wonderful day!
