Travel to Chrisman, IL

Saturday, August 15, 2020 - Chrisman, IL

It was another nice drive today.

We arrived at Moore's RV Park in Chrisman, IL safe and sound, but when we checked in, we found out the site they were originally going to give us was already taken.  And the people that arrived right after us made sure they got into their site before us, which made it that much harder for us to get into our site.  This is a very small RV park.  Mike cut the truck a little to hard and hit the trailer with the truck.  It did not do very much damage, but the awning strut got smashed a little.

This RV park is much too small for us.  We will not be back.  I didn't even take a picture of our site, just the damage.

For dinner we went to Bubba Lubba's BBQ.  The food was very good.

There were only a couple of other tables occupied and 2 of the slot machines.  :)

It was another wonderful day.

Mike's Rudder

Friday, August 14, 2020 - Kingdom City, MO

Last night we went to dinner with the Zenith Aircraft Company staff and the other people that were attending the class.  I forgot to take any pictures, but we did have a nice time.  Due to COVID, it seemed strange not shaking anyone's hand when Mike introduced me to them.

After the class was over today Mike brought home his completed aircraft rudder.  :)  Now, we have to find a place to put it!

The second picture is better except for my finger was in the way.  :)

It was another wonderful day!

Travel to Kingdom City, MO

Wednesday, August 12, 2020 - Kingdom City, MO

This morning, before we left, I did get a couple of pictures of our campsite.  :)

It wasn't a bad site, but I think for ease of getting in and out we would have preferred one of their long pull thru sites.  :)

We arrived safe and sound at Hansen Hills Campground in Kingdom City, MO.  Once you get off the interstate it is another 1.5 miles on a gravel road.  The truck, trailer and Suburban are very dusty!

Mike will start his Zenith airplane kit building class tomorrow.  He will be building a rudder for a CH701 STOL and is really looking forward to it.

It was another wonderful day!

Work Location

 Monday, August 10, 2020 - Maysville, MO

The Verizon service at the campsite, which is at the bottom of the hill was terrible, so I set up shop at a picnic table at the top of the hill.  :)

By afternoon the battery on my laptop was running low, so I moved inside the office/pizza joint to work.  :)  It also clouded up and started to rain.

It was another wonderful day.

Travel to Maysville, MO

Sunday, August 9, 2020 - Maysville, MO

Today we traveled to Pony Express RV Park in Maysville, MO.  It was a very short 1.5 hour drive today.  When we first got here the gentleman at the office did not know which site we were supposed be in and after a couple of calls to his wife we found out our site number.  When we got to the site we decided to look around at other open sites before settling in.  We talked to a couple of the campers in the next site over and they said a better site might be available.  Well we ended up moving sites.

We were in a hurry to get set up since we were planning to have dinner with Dave and Becky.  Maysville is only about 45 minutes north of their house.  In our hurry I forgot to take a picture of our campsite.  Hopefully I will remember before we leave.

We meet them at Nelle's Country Restaurant.  It was ok, just a truck stop restaurant.  With COVID there were only about 1/3 the normal number of tables and we felt like we were in the middle of an empty room.  But we sure did enjoy catching up with Dave and Becky.  After a couple of hours it was time to say our "Good-bye"'s.

It was another wonderful day!

Travel to Seneca, KS

Saturday, August 8, 2020 - Seneca, KS

Today we traveled to Bailey's RV Resort in Seneca, KS.  It was a little cloudy, but it was a nice drive.

The campsite they had us in was right next to the building.  It was an overflow site, but since we were only going to be here for one night it will do.  When they first told us which site we had we thought we were going to really have trouble getting into, but once we realized it was right next to the building it was very easy to get into.  :)

The view wasn't bad, at least we could see the lake.  Gracie won't get to go swimming in this lake, it is not allowed.

For dinner we went to Spanky's in downtown Seneca.  It was good.

It was another wonderful day!

Great Platte River Road Archway

 Friday, August 7, 2020 - Kearney, NE

Today after I was done with work we headed over to the Great Platte River Road Archway.  It was already closed but we walked around the grounds anyway.  It was very nice and I hope to be back there again sometime to see it when it is open.

This monument spans over 300 feet over I-80.

After walking around a little we headed out.  The setting sun was really big and beautiful.

Before heading back we drove around a little more and made a quick stop by the Fort Kearny State Historical Park.  The Fort was closed, but we walked around the grounds a little.

We also stopped and read a couple of historical markers, but I did not take any pictures of them.  I really need to start doing that.  :)

It was another wonderful day!
