Happy Thanksgiving

Thursday, November 25, 2015 - Campbellsville, KY

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

We were thinking Jess and the kids would arrive around noon, so I thought I had time to get up and get a couple of things done.  She left last night after work and planned to drive til she got tired, then she was going to stop for a couple of hours to sleep.  Well that is what she did, but her sleep time was a lot shorter than what I thought it would be.  She arrived safe and sound around 6:00am.  :)  

Jess took a nap for a couple of hours while I played with the kids.  When she got up we had lunch, then headed over to the playground.

Mike only had to work til noon today, so when he got home he took the kids over to playground again.  :)  They had a great time.  Then it was time for us to get our food ready for the potluck Thanksgiving dinner tonight.  We also set up the tables and chairs at the campground store.  :)

Around 5:00pm everyone started showing up.  We had a little bit of social time.  As an ice breaker Deanna placed a famous name on everyone's back and we had to go around the room to get clues as to who it was.  :)  It was fun.   Then it was time to sit down and enjoy our dinner.

Mega Cavern

Sunday, November 22, 2015 - Campbellsville, KY

This morning we got up early and went to 8:00am Mass.  This is the first time we have ever gone to Our Lady of Fatima.  I think it is he smallest of the 3 churches.  After Mass we went home, grabbed a bite to eat, took Gracie for a quick walk, then headed for Louisville to go to Mega Caverns.  We had reservation for the 2:00pm group.  The caverns are old limestone mines.  We were told they go back 17 miles!  The Mega Caverns company only uses a few miles for biking, zip lines and Lights Under Louisville. 

The zip lining was a lot of fun, but they do not let you take your camera or your phone.  They take pictures for you and you can buy them after your adventure.  I was very hopeful that we would have some good pictures, but the only pictures they take are at the beginning of you standing by a sign, then of you walking across a couple of bridges.  We were very disappointed by the pictures and did not want to spend $12.95 for what they had.  The best picture we have is from their website, which is of just a couple of people on the last zip line. 

I really wish they would make you sign a wavier stating that if you drop your phone/camera it is lost and they will not retrieve it for you.  It is dark and most picture probably would not turn out.

After zip lining we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse.  It was very good.  This is the picture I took of Mike, but it really did not turn out!  :)

Sunday, November 15, 2015 - Campbellsville, KY

After Mass and breakfast the Campbellsville University Mike saw several people over at the flying field, so off he went.  :)  Gracie and I headed over there for a while.  Just enough time to get some pictures. 

Mike did not even notice me there until one of the other guys said something to him.  :) 

It was another wonderful day!

Another Hike

Gracie and I went out for another hike, but as soon as we got to the trails she found something to roll in.  I did not pull her away in time. 

We went ahead and walked the trail, but when we got back I had to clean her up!

Friday, November 13, 2015 - Campbellsville, KY

This evening we needed to make a run to the liquor store to buy some beer.  The nearest liquor store is just outside of Lebanon, KY, which is about 20 miles away.  Since we were going to Lebanon anyway we decided we would find a restaurant up that way and go out to dinner.  We ended up going to Regetti's. It was a good choice.  The food was really good!  We ordered bread sticks and pizza.  There was so much food that we needed a take home box to take the leftovers home.  :)

It was another wonderful day!

When I take Gracie across the street to walk in the flying field she is always jumping around.  I tried to take a picture of her being silly, but they did not turn out as funny as she was being.  :)

Hiking

Saturday, November 7, 2015 - Campbellsville, KY

Now that Mike is working his regular schedule, which is Wednesday through Saturday, with overtime day on Tuesday, Gracie and I decided today would be a good day to go for a hike over at the state park.  Last year I did not take the Deer Creek trail that I can remember, so I decided today would be a good day to take this trail.  It is a very nice trail.

While I was walking I heard a lot of birds chirping and it reminded me of the fall days when my dad would go out and make a lot of noise to get the birds to go away from the house. :)  My mom would say she would have to clean the windshield before for leaving the house because of all of the birds.  :)

After walking several miles Gracie and I headed back home.
