Tony & Miranda Arrive

Sunday, July 26, 2020 - Fort Bridger, WY

Tony and Miranda arrived here in Fort Bridger about mid-morning.  After they got settled in and we had some lunch, we headed up to Black Forks River to play.

Gracie really enjoyed herself also!
Then the boys went exploring up river.
Miranda worked on crossing the river.
Poor Avander got caught by a stick.
Then Tony and I tried to convince Ami and Alex to float down the river, but neither one wanted to do it.
Finally we went exploring down river where we found where another river flows into the Black Forks River.
It was another wonderful day!

Piedmont Charcoal Kilns

Saturday, July 25, 2020 - Fort Bridger, WY

This morning Mike found the part we need for the toilet online at Cheyenne Camping Center in Walcott, IA and purchased it.   They are right off I-80 and Tony and Miranda will pick it up and bring it out with them when they go by later today.

After breakfast we decided to take a bike ride around Fort Bridger.

Soon we heard some thunder off in the distance and then it started to rain.  We found an overhang to hide under until the rain stopped.
Fortunately it only rained for a few minutes and then cleared up.  :)

After lunch, we headed for the Piedmont Charcoal Kilns State Historical Site.  Once we were off the highway we drove way out into the country.  But it was a very nice drive.

Soon we arrived and it was a lot smaller site than I thought it was going to be.  :)  But the kilns were a lot bigger than I thought they would be.  They are 30 feet in diameter by 30 feet tall.  The window near the top is how they loaded all of the wood.  The small holes near the base of the kiln were for venting.  There are 4 kilns, but the 4th one had collapsed a long time ago.
When we walked around the other side we discovered we could go inside.
We were surprised it did not smell like charcoal inside.
When we would stand in the middle and talk it would echo.  I patted Ami on the stomach it sounded like a helicopter, which made her giggle.

I took a picture of the sign, then Alex climbed on it and wanted me to take another picture.  :)

Then it was time to check out the Piedmont ghost town.  This is what it looks like.

When I walked up to the building where the kids were Alex said there are bats in that board.  I heard the squeaking, but I thought it was just the boards rubbing together.  Upon further investigation we found out it was bats!  And lots of them.  They are between a couple of boards.  I attempted to take a picture, but each time I got ready to snap the shot I would back up real fast.  My pictures did not turn out.  :)

So I handed the phone to Mike and he took some really good pictures of them.
We  walked around a little more and took a couple more pictures.

On the way back there were cows in the road and the kids wanted me to take a picture of them.
When we got back to Fort Bridger we stopped by the Fort Bridger Outpost for some ice cream.  Right across the street from the out post was a covered wagon, which is also a sign for the RV park, that Alex wanted us to take a picture of him in.
While we were making dinner Ami, found out she could stand on the pegs and ride on the back of the boys' bikes and wanted us to take pictures.

Look Mom, no hands!!!

It was another wonderful day!

Toilet Repair

Friday, July 24, 2020 - Fort Bridger, WY

This morning Mike disassembled the toilet to make sure of the parts he needed.  It was a good thing he did, because the part that broke last time is not the part that broke this time.

After the kids got done eating breakfast, they all hopped in the car and headed for Ogden, UT.  Mike said the drive was beautiful, especial after they got off I-80.

Once he returned, it was time to fix the toilet.   I was surprised Ami wanted to help also.
Alex helped some with the disassembly but mostly wanted to watch and spray the Windex.  Vander wanted nothing doing with any of it.  :)

After the new waste ball and actuator were installed, it was time to put it back together.  When we turned the water back on we discovered a leak in the back of the toilet.  We were unable to determine exactly what was leaking, so Mike had to take it back out.  We finally figured out the problem, it was the back-flow preventer that was leaking.  Mike by-passed it for now so we could have water in the rig tonight.  :)

It was another wonderful day!

Alex Diving

Thursday, July 23, 2020 - Fort Bridger, WY

This afternoon Mike and the kids were back at the Lyman Aquatic Center.  The aquatic center does not open until 1:30 pm.  The kids love to swim and watch the clock.  As soon as it gets to be about 1:15 pm they are asking how much longer before they get to go to the pool.  :)

All week Mike has been working with Ami on her swimming and flutter kick and it really shows.  He took a video of her swimming like a fish.  :)  She now has no problem swimming all the way across the pool.
Alex has been practicing his diving.  Mike caught a couple good pictures.  :)

Then Alex wanted him to take a video.  But this time he did a flip and a back smacker!  Ouch!
This evening the toilet flush valve actuator broke.  :(  Mike looked on-line for parts and made some calls.  He hopes he found some at an RV dealer in Ogden, UT.  It looks like he and kids will be making a 120 mile road trip tomorrow.

It was another wonderful day!

Swimming Again

Wednesday, July 22, 2020 - Fort Bridger, WY

This afternoon they were back at the Lyman Aquatic Center.  Here is Ami floating with a couple rafts.
Avander wanted Papa to take a couple of pictures of him swimming to the bottom of the deep end.  It is 12' deep.  He did a great job!

Alex and Ami just hanging out at the edge of the pool in the bubbles.
For dinner we had tacos.  We let the kids put all of their own stuff in the taco and Ami's ended up to be as big as she is.  :)  She must have been very hungry as she ended up eating two of them.
It was another wonderful day!

Hair Cut

Tuesday, July 21, 2020 - Fort Bridger, WY

This morning, they headed for the barber shop in Urie (Pit Stop Barber) to get a hair cut.  Alex and Van both liked their hair cuts, but you would not know it based on the looks on their faces in the picture.  I just think they did not want to have their pictures taken.  :)
After lunch they went back to the Lyman Aquatic Center.  Today Mike did not take any pictures.  :)

It was another wonderful day!

Swimming

Monday, July 20, 2020 - Fort Bridger, WY

This is morning the kids slept in a little, then played around the RV park until it was time for lunch.  After lunch, they headed for the Lyman Aquatic Center in Lyman.  Today Mike took a picture of the kids under the sign on the building.
But that is all of the pictures he took today.  :)

For dinner this evening, we had pizza.  We let the kids put on their own toppings.  We had sausage, red peppers, onions, and cheese.
It was another wonderful day!
