Thursday, August 14, 2014 - Norfolk, VA
This afternoon Mike headed for Norfolk to see if he could get a little more done on the bed Mike J. and Jess are making for the boys. They are hoping to have it done before the baby arrives in October. :) We are getting down to just a few more weeks before we head for Kentucky, so he wants to get as much done as possible.
We did not have time to go on the Allied Encampment tour once he got back. I am not sure we will go on this tour before we leave. :)
It was another wonderful day!

Auto Tours
Wednesday, August 13, 2014 - Yorktown, VA
This afternoon around 4:00pm we headed back to Yorktown National Battlefield Park to go on the first auto tour, the Battlefield Tour. The first stop we had seen on Friday of last week. That stop was right at the entrance of the visitor center. It was the British Inner Defense Line.
This evening we started with the second stop. It is the Grand French Battery.
Next was the Second Allied Siege Line. This line was within point blank artillery range of the British. There was also a cemetery from the Civil war. Most of the tombstones read Unknown Soldier.
From there we went on to Redoubts 9 and 10. They were both captured within 30 minutes, redoubts 9 by the American's and the other by the French.
Next stop was the Moore House, which is where the surrender terms were negotiated.
The The last stop for battlefield tour was the Surrender Field. This is where Cornwallis's army laid down its arms.
We hope to go on the Allied Encampment Tour tomorrow.

Papa watches the boys
Tuesday, August 12, 2014 - Norfolk, VA
This morning Mike headed for Norfolk to spend the day with the boys. Last night we stopped by the grocery store to pick up a few items and Mike picked up some Jello to make with the boys. He said they were both very excited to make Jello with him, but Alex either got tired or bored and went in the other room to watch TV for a while. Avander continued to help Papa with the Jello. All of them enjoyed eating the Jello! :)
It did rain most of the day today, so most of the playing with the boys was inside today!
Keri called around 2:30pm to have me contact Mike to let him know that I-64 W is closed due to an accident right at our exit ramp. So I called Mike to let him know he may not want leave anytime soon. He finally headed home around 6:30pm. It took him a little longer to get home, but not bad. With I-64 between Norfolk and Richmond you never know if you will make it all the way either way without a major traffic jam! We have grown to really dislike this highway!

New Scooter for Keri
Monday, August 11, 2014 - Williamsburg, VA
Mike and I got in a 4.2 mile walk in this morning before the rain started. Finally this afternoon the rain stopped and when Keri got back, her and Mike headed for Hampton, so Mike could check out the motor scooter she wanted to buy. Also, she wanted him to ride the scooter back here if she bought it. :) She still needs to get her motorcycle endorsement before she can ride.
Well she did buy the scooter. It is a Piaggio MP3 250 scooter. It has 2 wheels in the front and one in the back. It is a cool looking scooter. Now her plans for tomorrow are to get her permit, so she can ride her new scooter. :)

Drive Back to Williamsburg
Sunday, August 10, 2014 - Williamsburg, VA
Our (me and Jess) original plan was to get up and be on the road by 8:00am, but Jessica did not have a good night, so I let her sleep in. I think driving to Cleveland we may have pushed it a little too hard yesterday, so the plan for today was to stop about once every 1.5 hours. It made for a longer drive, but at least when we got back to Norfolk, she was not hurting as much. Traffic was the pits and the smart phone GPS took us down I-81 to I-66 to US 17, then back to I-95. The nice thing was it by-passed DC. It is a longer in miles, but I am sure it was shorter in time. :)
When we got to Norfolk, Mike and Mike J. had ordered pizza for dinner. We were both hungry, so I was ready to eat. :)
After dinner I was tired and ready to be home. I think Mike was just as tired as I was, so we headed home and called it a night. :)
It was another wonderful weekend. :)

Jess K's Wedding
Saturday, August 9, 2014 - Cleveland, OH
This morning Jessica arrived at about 5:45am for her and I to head for Cleveland, so we could attend Jess K's wedding. Traffic was not bad and we arrived at the hotel at about 3:00pm. This gave us a little bit of time to rest before we needed to get ready to head for the wedding.
The dress Jess was wearing was her Mother's dress. It was really nice dress. The church was the same church here mom and dad got married in. That was really nice.
We finally ate dinner around 7:30pm. Jessica was starving and more than ready to eat! :) Dinner was good. After the first dances and the cutting of the cake, Jessica was getting tired and wanted to call it a night. But we did get a couple of pictures before we left. :)
We had a really nice time.
Mike spent the day with Mike J. and the boys. He said he also had a really good day!

Yorktown National Battlefield
Friday, August 8, 2014 - Yorktown, VA
Yesterday we did not do anything exciting. :)
This morning was the 4th morning this week that Mike and I have been walking the neighborhood across the street from the KOA. There are a lot of hills and we make it about a 3 to 3.5 mile walk. We have been averaging about 3.5 to 4.0 mph. Hopefully we will be able to keep it up. :)
This afternoon we went to the Yorktown National Battlefield.
When we got there we went to the National Park visitor center to watch the movie. During the movie we found out that (or were reminded) that without the French we would not have won the revolutionary war.
After the movie we headed outside for an interpretive tour. It only lasted about 20 minutes, but it was a nice tour.
We headed back to the Visitor Center and hooped on the shuttle bus that took us to Yorktown. We went as far as the Riverwalk on the shuttle, then we walked around the town.
We walked all the way back to the visitor center. It was getting late, so we decided we would head back home and come back sometime next week to do the auto tour. There are 2 loops to the auto tour and it states each loop will take approximately 45 minutes. It is not because it is that long, but it is more the stops along the way. :)
When we got back to the trailer we had next door neighbors. The campground was almost full!
We cut up a pork loin and cooked it out on the grill. Just as we pulled the meat off the grill Keri stopped by to ask Mike if he would go with her on Monday to go look at a motor scooter that she would like to buy. Her plans were to go to a Chinese restaurant with her neighbor Mike. Mike stopped by to get her, but when he arrived we invited them to join us for dinner. Keri had already eaten, she was just going with Mike so he would not have to eat along, but they both joined us for dinner and conversation. :)
