Travel to Milton, WV

Sunday, July 6, 2014 - Milton, WV

Tony and Mike went to put the boat back in the storage shed while the rest of us packed everything up.  It was a wonderful trip and I am glad everyone was able to come.  :)

We finally left around 11:00am and headed for Russell Springs to have lunch at McDonald's with Tony before we all headed our separate ways.  Looking forward to seeing you again Tony.

Before we left the campground I let Mike know that the gas gauge on the Suburban was showing empty.  Mike said something was wrong with the gauge and we had about a half a tank.  Well after we got on to the Cumberland Parkway and drove approximately 5-10 miles the Suburban ran out of gas.  Fortunately we have gas on board in the trailer.  We couldn't find the small gas can we kept, so Mike had to put fuel in the tank one quart at a time from an empty oil container.  :)  Once he had several quarts in, I headed to the nearest exit to fill the rest of the tank.

Before getting to I-75 we ran into a 10-15 mile traffic jam, that lasted until we were on I-75.  That really slowed us down.  The original plan was to get to Beckley, WV, but with the delays we decided we were going to stay at the KOA in Milton, WV.  :)

The KOA looked like a really nice campground.  They had some fun blow up toys out in the swimming pond, we were only going to be there for the night.  The sites were very close together!  Also, as they we taking us to our site they had us drive through our neighbors fire.  When Mike drove through it, he did not know it was still hot!  I couldn't believe the guy showing us to our site would have Mike drive through a hot fire!  At least it did not do any damage to anything on the rig.

The sites were so close we were unable to open up our living room slide all the way.  I am sure we could have jockeyed the trailer over a little further, but we decided we did not want back over the fire again and we just wanted to get things settled and head for bed.

It was another wonderful day!
