Little Stony National Recreation Trail

Saturday, June 6, 2015 - Big Stone Gap, VA

Today we decided to take a hike to Little Stony Falls.  It was supposed to be a 2.6 miles walk back to the falls, then 2.6 miles back to the parking lot.  :)  On our way up to the trail head we stopped by the scenic overlook along US 23.  It is very scenic.

While at the scenic overlook Gracie saw something over the edge of the hill and decided to check it out.  :)

This trail head was much easier to find, but is was another twisty, turny road to get there.  :)

It was a very nice trail and not a trail that is used by many people.

Some of the trail was very over grown.  We did not see any other hikers until we were on our way back to the parking lot.

We finally arrived at the falls and it was beautiful.

On the way back we decided we play in the water with Gracie.  It was very warm today and I just wanted to cool down.  :)

We ended up walking almost 9 miles.  Shortly after we started walking we cleaned up a Gracie mess and tied it up on a branch, so we would see it on the way back...well we did not see it, so we back tracked until we found it.  :)

It was another wonderful day!
