Fly to Nogales

Friday, June 10, 2016 - Nogales, AZ

I was up early this morning, 3:30am CT, so I could get to the airport in time to catch my 7:00am ET flight.  It was an uneventful flight, which is what I like.  My first stop was in Atlanta where I had a 1.5 hour lay over.  Then off to Tucson.  We were a couple of minutes late taking off, but we arrived about 25 minutes early.  Mike wasn't there yet but, just as I was getting to the exit doors to the airport, he was walking in.  I surprised him from behind a pillar.  :)

It was about 12:30pm local time, so we decided we would get some lunch before checking out any campgrounds.  We stopped in Green Valley at Rigabertos Mexican Food.  I thought it was a sit down restaurant, but it was more like a fast food place.  It was still good, just not what I thought it was going to be.

After lunch we stopped by the De Anza RV Park just south of Green Valley.  It is a very nice park and so far it is first on my list of places to stay this winter.  Right next door is Mountain View RV Resort.  It is a little run down and looks like an old KOA.  With De Anza right next door, we are not going to consider this one.

As we continued down the road toward Nogeles we stopped in Tubac just to check it out and found out there was a campground there.  There was an information center in the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park, so we asked them about campgrounds in the area.  They let us know about the Flying W RV Resort, which is just down the street.  It is off the beaten path and seems ok, but they only have 30 amp service.  So we ruled this one out.

While we were at the information center we found out why I-19 is in kilometers and not miles.  I-19 was being built while Jimmy Carter was President and he wanted to convert all of the US to the metric system like the rest of the world, so he had I-19 done in the metric system.  Very interesting.  :)

Since it was still early we decided to check out Patagonia RV Park in Patagonia, AZ.  This is even further off the beaten path.  It is very small and doesn't offer much.  The sites that look like we would fit in, do not have sewer.  And it is about the same distance from Nogales as De Anza.  So we ruled this one out.

Well that was all of the campgrounds that we could find, so if we are going to stay in a campground I guess it will be De Anza.  :)

For dinner Mike wanted to try City Salads.  It is a fast food place that serves salads.  They have burgers too, but we both ordered a salad.  They have 3 different size bowls of lettuce.  And depending on the size of the bowls determines the number of toppings.  I got a small with bbq chicken, plus 3 vegetable toppings.  Mike had a large with parmesan chicken, plus 5 vegetable toppings.  It was very good.

It was another wonderful day!

Some Decking On

Tuesday, June 7, 2016 - Michigan City, IN

This evening Miranda was home, so we were able to start working on getting the decking on the roof.  Thanks to Mike for building a ramp for us to slide the boards on up to the roof, Miranda and I were able to get several boards up to Tony for him to nail down.  We got 1 full row done and 2 partial rows.

After posting about Tony's thumb getting hurt, they were giving me a hard time that I don't put anything about dumb things happening to me in the blog...well I think I do.  :)  Anyway tonight as Miranda and I were putting things away, Tony was still up on the roof and he called down to us.  We were both in the trailer where Tony is keeping everything.  I immediately turned to see what he wanted, but suddenly ran into the cable that holds the back gate to the trailer.  It bounced me back and I went down.  I was fine and we all got a good laugh out of it. I did get a small sore on my leg.  :)

It was another wonderful day!

A Little More Work on the Garage

Monday, June 6, 2016 - Michigan City, IN

Mike and I were up very early this morning.  He had to be at the airport by 5:30am ET.  After dropping him off at the airport I went back home, got ready for work, and headed into the office for the day.

This evening it was only Tony and I, but we were still able to get all of the sheeting up at all of the corners.  Miranda had to work tonight and Jess and the kids were in Chicago with Mike J.  But as long as Tony can get a little bit done each night, it will get done!  I didn't take any pictures of the progress we got done today, but it was pretty dark by the time we were done putting things away.

It was another wonderful day.

Trusses Up

Sunday, June 5, 2016 - Michigan City, IN

We were at it again today.  Today we were hoping to get all of the trusses put up.  Just like yesterday getting the first truss up was by far the hardest and we were very glad Jess and Mike J were around to help.
After we got that one up, Jess and Mike J had to leave.  Shortly after they left Miranda and I headed to the store to pick up a couple of things the guys needed.  As we were pulling out of the drive it looked like Tony was bleeding, but we did not think to much about it until we got back and no one was outside.  We found both Tony and Mike in the house cleaning up Tony's thumb.  He was holding the back of the board he was nailing and put the nail through his thumb with the nailer.  Ouch!  You can't really see it, but the nail goes about 1" past the edge of the board.
Tony did give me a hard time about the fact that I was going to put this in the blog.  He said I never put anything in about dumb things that happen to me.  I am not sure that is true, but I still put it in about him.  :)

The other trusses went up easier than the first.  And eventually we got them all up.

Once the trusses were all up we moved the rest of the building materials to the garage.  Then Mike and I needed to get back to the trailer, so Mike could get packed.  I need to have him to the airport by 5:30am ET tomorrow morning.

It was another wonderful day!

Walls up on the Garage

Saturday, June 4, 2016 - Michigan City, IN

At it again today.  We were hopeful that we would get the walls up and start on the roof.  It did rain a couple of times during the day, which slowed us down a little.  Getting the first wall in place was the hardest.  We learned a lot moving that one.  :)  At one point I was afraid it was going over, but we made it.

The back wall went into place so much easier.  It went up in 2 pieces.

Ami wanted on the trampoline.  :)
Soon Ami, Avander and Brodie were playing on the trampoline.
We finally had 2 walls standing
Jess took a beautiful selfie of her and Ami.
It was time to put the 3rd wall into place and we wanted to make sure Ami and Mattie were not in the way, so we had them get into the truck.
Even though it was as big as the first wall, it seem to go into place easier.

Then they needed to build the front wall.

Mike J did take a quick break to play on the trampoline with the kids.  And they all had a great time.

The front wall was making progress.

Then Avander got a hold of the camera.  Most of the pictures he took looked like this.  :)

But he did manage to take a couple really nice pictures of his sister.

Eventually the front wall got completed.

All of the walls are up!  And we were done working on the garage for today.

It was another wonderful day!
