Jess, Mike J., the boys and Lauren arrived at our trailer around 10:00am. Then we ran over to Wal-Mart to pick up a couple of items for our picnic lunch. Then finally headed for Shenandoah National Park.
We arrived at a picnic spot around 12:30pm, near South River Falls Trailhead. We pulled out our picnic lunch.
Alex and Avander were not interested in eating, they were more interested in exploring.
We were up in the clouds and when they would go by the temperature would drop several degrees.
After eating lunch and swatting at bugs, we packed up our food and got ready to head down the trail.
This is a 3.3 mile loop trail. I was not sure we would make it the entire way. It would depend on how Jess was feeling. The first part of the trail was all down hill. :)
Avander tripped several times over the roots on his way down the hill, but that did not stop him from wanting to go down. :)
We continued down the hill.
Once we got down to the creek we played in the water for a little bit.
Then we hiked down to the view of the waterfalls.
Right after I took this picture Mike turned around to see the waterfalls and saw a snake on the rocks behind him instead. :) Down the path a little further was another viewing point.
On the way back up to the parking lot, Avander and Alex got very tired and fell asleep. :)
Mike's head was getting very sweaty, so he put Avander's shorts on his head. :)
Jess was getting very tired and so were Mike and Mike J. from carrying the boys, so I started walking faster so I could get to the car and drive it to the entrance of the trail. This saved them about 1/4 to 1/2 of a mile.
Once we were back to the car we headed for the Best Western in Harrisonburg, VA. This is where we stayed for the night. When we arrived it was time to eat dinner. There was a Domino's right across the parking lot from the hotel, so this is what we had for dinner.
Then it was time to do a little swimming. After swimming we were all very tired, so it was time to head back to the hotel room and head for bed. :)
It was another wonderful day!
